Make assembly and clean-up a slam dunk

Want to clean or disinfect your PAPR? With cleaning and storage plugs in place, the motor/blower of the TR-600 and the entire assembly can be fully submerged or wiped down. During storage, the plugs also help keep the motor/blower's internal components clean. The TR-300 can be disinfected and cleaned using a wipe down method.

Is the 3M™ Breathe Easy™ PAPR Series still available for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) applications?
Yes. These systems continue to be featured extensively in healthcare, military, and government agencies that manage an Emergency Preparedness program. The systems include the RBE-L10 (with non-rechargeable battery) or RBE-NM10 (this uses the discontinued BC-210 charger). For non-CBRN applications, the 3M™ Versaflo™ Series PAPRs may be a consideration and feature simplified selection, increased versatility and improved user comfort.

Can the 3M™ Versaflo™ TR-300 or the Powerflow PAPR’s be equipped with chemical cartridges?
No, both 3M’s TR-300 and Powerflow are used for capturing particulates only – such as dusts, mists and fumes. Please access the TR-300 User Instructions (PDF, 1.31 MB) and/or Powerflow User Instructions (PDF, 1.25 MB) for further detail. Other 3M PAPR systems, like the 3M™ Versaflo™ TR-600 PAPR, do have chemical cartridges available.

How long will the cartridge in the GVP-PSK2 last?
It all depends on the application. Please reference our Service Life Software for assistance in calculating cartridge service life when exposed to certain chemicals.

What is 3M’s guidance on changing PAPR filters once they have been exposed to a biological i.e. Tuberculosis (TB)?
Dispose of or reuse the filter according to your infection control policy. The infection control policy should be developed based on national, state, and local guidelines. Most health care organizations develop their filter reuse policy based on the biological agent of concern, likelihood of the filter becoming contaminated, and potential for patient-to-patient and patient-to-worker cross-contamination. While the outside filter body can be wiped down for cleaning, do not attempt to clean the filter media inside the filter body. When changing the PAPR filter, follow the hygiene and infection control practices established by your employer based on the specific contaminants to which the respirator assembly has been exposed and the cleaning agent used. Dispose of the filter according to your infection control policy.

How can I clean/disinfect the 3M™ Versaflo™ TR-600 Powered Air Purifying Respirator?
With the use of TR-653 Cleaning and Storage Plugs, the TR-600 can be rinsed under running water, immersed for up to 30 minutes at 1 meter, or put in a respirator washer. Please reference the TR-600 User Instructions (PDF, 1.86 MB) and TR-600 Cleaning and Storage Guide for further detail.

The TR-600 multi-gas cartridge has an estimated launch date in late 2017.

Is the filter cover necessary to operate the 3M™ Versaflo™ TR-600 PAPR unit?
At a minimum, each NIOSH-approved configuration of this PAPR system should include approved headgear or facepiece, breathing tube, motor/blower, filter/cartridge, battery, and a belt or backpack. Common accessories include prefilter/spark arrestor and filter cover. Please refer to the supplied User Instructions (PDF, 1.86 MB) for each of these components for additional information prior to use.

We’ve heard rumors that the 3M™ Airmate™ High Efficiency Belt-Mounted PAPR is being discontinued – what is the suggested replacement?
Yes, we plan to discontinue the Airmate PAPR in late-2016 or early-2017, the suggested replacement is the 3M™ Versaflo™ TR-300 PAPR.
