3M™ Twin Axial PCI Extender Assemblies Gen 4.0 8Kxx Series allows for extremely versatile routing and configuration while maintaining signal strength, especially in system designs with challenging board patterns. Ideal for PCIe® (85 ohm) 4.0 applications, 3M extenders feature flexible, foldable thin twin axial ribbon cables that allow for more cable without added space. This increases design capability, allows for highly efficient cable management, and helps maximize airflow for better thermal control in high-performance architectures. Extender assemblies are available in x8, x16, straddlemount and surfacemount (SMT) versions. The series meets the PCIe Gen 4.0 specification and may meet Gen 5.0 under certain conditions.

    Featuring flat cable with an extremely tight bend radius. 3M™ Twin Axial PCI Extender Assemblies Gen 4.0 8Kxx Series allows cabling to be folded back on itself – making it possible to add cable and capability to challenging server designs without rigid PCB and high-loss flex circuit assemblies, PCI Express® re-timer chips and other costly and design-limiting solutions. Precision-formed, continuously laminated shields over entire flat cables maintains high-bandwidth, resonance-free signal integrity regardless of folded cable configurations.

    More cable in smaller spaces allows for expanded capabilities: offload signals from PCBs to cable, re-locate PCIe card slots, bridge between two slots, and place PCIe peripheral cards in virtually any orientation within a system chassis. Components can be configured for functionality and for maximized airflow in small spaces. 3M™ Twin Axial PCI Extender Assemblies Gen 4.0 8Kxx Series are also excellent for managing board space in dense server designs.
