3M™ Silicon Nitride is an extremely hard and corrosion-resistant ceramic material that is 60% lighter than steel. This material, Sintered Silicon nitride (Si₃N₄), is designed to offer a combination of excellent properties, including thermal and impact shock resistance, electrical insulation, and wear resistance. 3M™ Silicon Nitride offers a wide degree of design flexibility, making it an outstanding alternative to stainless steel, superalloys, tungsten carbides, and first-generation ceramics such as Al₂0₃ and ZrO₂.
