The Standard Abrasives™ Alumina Zirconia Square Pad enables aggressive access to tight angles such as channels, fillets and corners. Featuring alumina zirconia mineral for more aggressive grinding and deburring, the pad has folded layers of abrasive cloth that provide fresh mineral as the corners wear away and absorb vibration to reduce chatter for smooth results.

Tips for Optimal Use
A Standard Abrasives™ Alumina Zirconia Square Pad is constructed by folding strips of coated abrasive material over a metal eyelet to form a square abrasive pad. As the pad rotates, the corners provide fast biting action, wearing down to expose fresh mineral. Square pads run smoothly and offer great control and access for corner weld grinding and cleaning. They are a bit more aggressive than cross pads given their square design, so they're a good choice for tougher grinding and blending applications. Small size pads are ideally suited for tubes and internal diameters. These pads may be used with portable die grinders to facilitate easier and closer access to the workpiece, and the metal eyelet attaches to a mandrel — long or short — enabling the operator to tighten or extend the abrasive's proximity to the part.

Achieve a More Aggressive Cut
Alumina zirconia (AZ) fractures frequently to continually produce fresh sharp points and delivers a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A man-made mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding, making it an excellent choice for square pad applications. AZ mineral is adhered to the backing in a closed coat construction — meaning the mineral covers 100% of the backing. The greater grain density of this coated abrasive equates to smoother finishes.
