3M™ Flexible Abrasive Hookit™ Foam Pad is ideal for use with 3M™ Hookit™ Abrasive Sheets (sold separately) when you are sanding automotive surfaces by hand. The high flexibility, conformability and soft feel of the pad and sheets when used together gives you outstanding control when sanding. Use these products for sanding panel edges and for hard-to-reach areas such as bumper covers (PDF, 1.4 Mb), door jambs and door pockets.

Our 3M™ Flexible Abrasive Hookit™ Foam Pad may be used in combination with abrasive sandpaper sheets (sold separately) for the following projects:

Primer sanding

• Sanding primer surfaces and e-coat surfaces
• Sanding e-coat primer surfaces (PDF, 1.4 Mb), and clear coat surfaces

Blending

• Sanding primer surfaces and scuffing clear coat for blends
• Scuffing clear coat for blends and to remove dirt nibs/texture from refinish clear coat

Paint Finishing

• Sanding clear coat to remove dirt nibs and texture from the surface

Simply press the abrasive sheet onto the 3M™Flexible Abrasive Hookit™ Foam Pad to get a secure grip, and then peel it away for easy removal. Hookit™ is the perfect time-saving answer when you're switching between abrasive grits frequently. Best of all, you can remove and reattach an abrasive that still has a useful service life. Let's say you need to switch to a different grit but the abrasives on the sheet you're currently using are not fully spent. Simply remove it and reattach later. Hookit™ ensures that you will get the same secure hold, which is an important advantage compared to pressure sensitive attachment products where the adhesive may become compromised after being removed.
